CHEFIN uses a sophisticated data algorithm to identify and select the chefs that best match your needs. This selection is based on your food preferences, dietary requirements, seasonal availability, event details, timing, location, and many other factors. We conduct a thorough screening process to ensure that every chef holds a valid Food Safety Supervisor certification and complies with local food safety regulations. We also require all our chefs to follow a strict hygiene protocol and use high-quality ingredients to minimize any potential risk of contamination. Our chefs are trained to handle food properly and safely in order to prevent any foodborne illnesses or allergic reactions. When it comes to payment, we use a secure trust account to hold your funds until after the event. This means your payment is safely held and only released to the chef once the event has been completed. The trust account ensures your payment is secure and protects you from any potential fraud or scams. In the unlikely event of an accident during your event, CHEFIN carries liability insurance of up to \$20 million to protect both the client and the chef. This insurance policy covers any damages or injuries that may occur during the event. We understand that safety is a top priority for our clients. WHAT MEASURES ARE USED TO ENSURE FOOD SAFETY AND PAYMENT SECURITY?
The CHEFIN Booking Fee is a charge applied to each reservation made through the platform. It is included in the total price. This fee ensures the smooth operation of CHEFIN and covers the costs of the products and services we provide. The fee is 15% of the total value of your booking. It covers the following: - 24/7 customer support, - Public Liability Insurance, - Payment processing fees, - Fund management and distribution, - Chef recruitment, onboarding, and verification, - Website and software costs.
CAN I HIRE A PRIVATE CHEF ON A PUBLIC HOLIDAY?
Yes, you can hire a private chef through the CHEFIN platform for an event on a public holiday. However, please be aware that a standard additional fee will apply, in accordance with Brazil's labor laws. Hospitality workers are entitled to an extra charge of up to twice the normal rate. Chef availability on these dates may also be limited.
CAN I HIRE A PRIVATE CHEF FOR THE WEEKEND?
Yes, you can hire a private chef for any day of the week. The CHEFIN platform offers the largest selection of private chefs in Australia, with availability every day of the week. Private chefs are available for service on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. There are chefs on the platform available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner services at any time during the week. Chefs are also available for last-minute bookings, with at least 12 hours’ notice!
IS IT SAFE TO HAVE A CHEF IN MY HOUSE?
Yes, it is completely safe and legal to have a CHEFIN chef in your home. CHEFIN chefs follow enhanced food safety practices to ensure the safe preparation and service of meals in your home.
WHAT TIME WILL THE CHEFIN TEAM ARRIVE?
CHEFIN chefs like to be well-prepared and will typically arrive between 1 hour and 30 minutes before your event. They require a minimum of 30 minutes prior to the service time. For example, if you would like your guests to enjoy canapés at 6:30 PM, the chef will arrive no later than 6:00 PM. The chef will bring all the ingredients and finish preparing each dish in your kitchen, using the available equipment as well as certified CHEFIN tools they bring along. Your chef will serve you and your guests while also providing an explanation of each dish and, when possible, sharing insights into their techniques and recipes during the cooking process. Once the meal is complete, your chef will clean the kitchen area so you can relax and enjoy the success of a wonderful event.
CAN I CHOOSE THE MENU? DO YOU HAVE A SELECTION OF PRE-DEFINED MENUS TO CHOOSE FROM?
CHEFIN chefs create each menu just a few days before the event date. The ingredient selection is based on seasonality, dietary needs, requirements, and preferences. This ensures that only the highest quality local produce is used to deliver an irresistible menu for everyone to enjoy the chef’s creations. All CHEFIN menus are personalized and uniquely crafted for each event. Our chefs are highly creative and love cooking new and distinctive dishes every time. While some dishes may appear similar, they are slightly different depending on seasonal produce and availability. CHEFIN clients collaborate with their private chefs to create delicious menus for their guests. Every menu requires your approval before being finalized and before the chef heads out to purchase fresh, local ingredients. WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I/WE/MY GUESTS HAVE SPECIFIC DIETARY REQUIREMENTS?
If you or your guests have specific dietary requirements that need to be accommodated, we can absolutely help with that! Our chefs are here to cater to all tastes and dietary needs. All we ask is that you notify a member of the CHEFIN support team, as well as your assigned chef, after your booking is confirmed. Our chefs can then consult CHEFIN’s extensive library of dietary requirements and substitutions to create a menu that satisfies the preferences of you and all your guests, regardless of the diet. Your chef will also be present on the day, preparing your food and available for any last-minute questions or requests. So if one of your guests forgets to mention a nut allergy, you can simply let the chef know on the spot.
CAN I BOOK ADDITIONAL SERVICES?
We are more than just a private chef hiring company here at CHEFIN! We know that organizing a great event requires a lot of moving parts, and our services go beyond simply hiring talented chefs. If you need to rent equipment, a venue, a videographer, or anything else to make your event memorable, we can help. During the online booking process, you’ll be asked to answer several questions related to your event’s needs and requirements. If you need extra services, this is your chance to request them (though you can also request additional services later). Do you need to book multiple events at the same time? You may be eligible for a special discount from CHEFIN! Just contact our CHEFIN support team by phone or email, and we’ll discuss the details of your event needs. If you plan to pay for multiple bookings at once, you might qualify for a special discount on your reservation. We always have special offers, promotions, and discounts here at CHEFIN. We love keeping our customers happy and will offer promotions whenever we have a new chef on board. HOW DO I PAY FOR A RESERVATION AT CHEFIN? WHAT PAYMENT METHODS DOES CHEFIN ACCEPT?
We accept all online payment methods, including bank transfers and credit card payments. The CHEFIN booking community accepts all major credit cards and will not charge any processing or merchant service fees beyond your booking. This means that when you receive the final price from us, it will be fixed. Paying for your CHEFIN booking is easy, thanks to the wonderful world of online transactions. After selecting your dining style through our online booking platform, you can go back and choose any additional services—such as equipment rental, staff, or venue hire—that may be needed for your event. Once this process is complete, you can make the payment and finalize your event booking. There are no additional or hidden charges from CHEFIN after this payment is finalized. Please make sure to check our cancellation policy before making a booking to avoid any misunderstandings.
HOW DO I CONFIRM A RESERVATION?
Overall, confirming and securing a booking for your event is easy, smooth, and transparent. You book directly online through our website, the final price is displayed on the checkout page, you make the payment, and that’s it! The reason we ask for full payment upfront is so the chef can begin sourcing all your beautiful local produce and fresh ingredients. As much as we’d love to only require a deposit, this system works much better for everyone 🙂 That said, CHEFIN does accept a 50% payment of the booking amount—with a minimum of \$5,000—to secure large-scale bookings. Your booking will not be confirmed or secured until payment has been made. Please be sure to check our cancellation policy before making a booking to avoid any issues. Payment must be made before we begin organizing and preparing your event. Once payment is received and the booking is confirmed, you will receive a booking confirmation email. And then—it’s party time!
IS FULL PAYMENT REQUIRED TO CONFIRM/SURE A RESERVATION?
Yes, 14 days before the date of your event. As you can understand, we require full payment before we can confirm and secure your booking. Once you’ve submitted your booking online through our platform, one of CHEFIN’s friendly team members will get in touch to go over the finer details of your event and requirements. After we’ve established your needs and what CHEFIN will provide, you’ll book directly through our website—the final price will be displayed on the checkout page, you make the payment, and that’s it. Once payment is received and confirmed, it’s party time! We’ll begin organizing and preparing your event, including all the fun stuff like curating the menu. As much as we’d love to settle for just a deposit, we’ve found that people tend to be a little unreliable when it comes to partial payments. That’s why we require full payment upfront before the chef can begin sourcing all your high-quality ingredients!
HOW DO I FIND A LOCATION FOR MY EVENTS?
We’re here to help you host the best event possible—and that goes beyond just the food! If you don’t yet have a venue in mind for your event, we can help you find the perfect space to suit your needs. Whether it’s a corporate event, family gathering, wedding, or client meeting, we’ve got you covered. We have a comprehensive list of venues that we’ve tested, experienced, and found to be popular with our guests. From a sunny rooftop to a whiskey lounge or a spacious communal dining hall, there’s a venue to suit any event and requirements. If you think you’ll need help finding a venue for your event, just let us know when you make your initial booking through our platform. IS THERE A MINIMUM OR MAXIMUM NUMBER OF GUESTS?
We require a minimum of two guests to book a private chef. As for a maximum, we generally recommend up to 100 guests per private chef. Beyond that, it starts to compromise the quality of each dish, and no one wants that! If you're planning a large booking for more than 12 guests, we kindly ask that you contact us beforehand. This gives us a chance to go over the finer details of your event—your needs, requirements, and plans—and ensure that it's something we can fully support. WHEN WILL I KNOW THAT MY BOOKING HAS BEEN CONFIRMED?
Your booking will be confirmed once you receive a confirmation email or a phone call from the CHEFIN team or your private chef. If you do not receive any email or call from us after making your booking, then your event is not considered confirmed. If you requested a specific private chef at the time of booking and they are unavailable on the date of your event, a member of the CHEFIN team will get in touch to help you find an alternative chef. Each member of our team is just as talented, brilliant, and passionate as the next, and we can always find the perfect match for any menu and event.
CAN I MAKE A RESERVATION ON THE SAME DAY OF THE EVENT?
We kindly ask that you try to make all private chef bookings at least 24 hours before your event. This gives our chefs enough time to accept your booking and prepare the meal of your dreams. That said, we understand that sometimes you need a chef at the last minute. If you need to book a chef for an event within 24 hours, please get in touch with us.
